Rockola 440 A Little Too Fast

Great forum - thanks for all the help so far. I have a noob question. I have restored a Rockola 440 and it is working great except that it plays a little too fast. When you press down on the left front side of the turntable housing it plays normal speed. So it seems that I need to adjust the height of the turntable but I am not sure how to do that.

Any advice or suggestions much appreciated.

It may possibly be the rubber grommets underneath the turntable where the turntable motor is mounted, although that usually results in a warbled type sound, (or perhaps its a power supply issue using a 115volts ac 60hz power supply on a 230 volt ac 50hz supply with a transformer, the frequency difference will result in a different motor speed), i would make sure that the turntable housing is not loose and motor mounts are not loose and tighten up any bolts

Hello! Replacing those three rubber grommets on the turntable mounts have cleared up problems like that for me. Prices vary greatly, but I got mine at Antique Electronic supply (http://www.tubesandmore.com) SKU: P-R407. Price was reasonable and the service was good. They fit all of my 70s & 80s Rockolas. IF,the motor is attached with screws, there are ( or should be) "spacers" inside the grommets. Remove and re-use them !--Do not let them "slip out" as you remove the old grommets ! If motor is held up with an "e" clip--never-mind---Ron Rich

In most cases, it is very simple to keep the "circlips" ( as you guys across the pond call them--here they are called out {properly}, as--"e clips"--{improperly} as "Jesus Clips"), in check, in most cases.
Use a small tool to pry on them and block movement, with your other hand, to the "half way point" as you pry. Once blocked at that point, or a slight amount more, the clip will remain on the post, until you "pick if off"--

E clips, C clips, whatever they wanna call them clips... you're right Ron, careful removal is the key... I use a small flat screwdriver to pry them off too.
There's an "art" to this stuff, ya know?
