Seeburg DEC series wallboxes

by Jimmler » Wed Sep 17, 2014 6:34 am

I have a rather simple question: I see DEC1-4 style wallboxes on Ebay quite often as well as DEC110/DEC125 units. Tony Miller's site describes the subtle differences between the DEC1-4 series, but I can't seem to find out what's different about the latter ones. Were they for the red box style jukes?

Thanks for any info!

-Jim

Hi Jim,
No, the "Red Box phono's" (100-77/78D) are not equipped to run any wall-box.
All DEC's are for use with 160 MicroLog ("Digital") models, without any other added items, except a power supply transformer, that supplies working (25 vac) voltage ( this voltage can also be supplied via the dollar bill tap on the DCC, if no dollar bill unit is connected). These also can be used with all SMC, and 100-79M, models, however a "Blue Box, Translator" is required, along with the power supply, as above.
Differences between models are --(colors--and) the 1's, 2's have a NDQ "slug rejector" installed, and no "pilot lamp" showing in front. The DEC 3/4's had a NDQHD slug rejector installed. Early production DEC's had a slightly different power supply board, that was "updated" and the number changed, sometime during production--either is interchangeable, but the later board is preferred, as it eliminated any "phonograph" hangup's if a coin stuck on the coin switches (a similar "update" was done on the 311134 buffer board inside the DCC--marked -2, when done).
