Seeburg Select o Matic 160

Just had it serviced, played several different times, worked fine. Turned it on, didnt hear the usual snap when it comes on. Everything on, but now it will not even scan when a record is selected. Any ideas?

Need more info--
Does it "show credits" ? If not--add money !
If so, is the scan switch in the "Operate" (aka "normal", or, "run") position ?

Ron,there is no coin mechanism, it is in free play mode. The switch is all the way to the right, not sure if that is correct position.

Bob,
I don't remember from model to model which way that switch was installed--it should be "marked"--but if not, there are three positions. 1."Center", 2."spring loaded" to pull back to the center, and 3. the "operate" position, on the opposite side, of the spring loaded side.
You did not say if the credit lamp is lit ? Did the seller mention a "Free credit", or "free play", or "credit add" (hidden) button ? Ron Rich

The credit light is not lit. We bought this about 10 yrs ago, and both my wife and I think we were told about a certain switch in the back to maintain freeplay. Unfortunatly are memories are not what they once were.

Bob,
I think I know that feeling--but then, I'm not sure if I remember that, or not--
Look around for it--a "clue" might exist inside the cabinet--look for "strange" wires going to the rear of the cabinet--One thing you do NOT want to do, once you find it, is leave the "select lamp" lit--use ALL of the credits up, at once--good luck ! Ron Rich

I guess I'll call the sevice guy again, he told me it should play well for a year, so I'll hold him to that. Im thinking it is wired for all play, no switch. Thanks for your replies.
