Viking RC-234

Hi there. I'm a phonograph amateur but I recently inherited a Viking RC-234. The radio on it works fine but for the life of me, I can't get the turntable to turn. I can feel and hear a humming from under the turntable. This model plays 78, 45, 33. It has Stop, Start or Auto (not sure if any of this matters)

Any ideas where to start - I really would like to fix it, but I can't find anyone near us that does repairs.

Take the platter off and check the following: Is the motor shaft turning? Is the rubber on the idler wheel, assuming it is rim drive, hard and brittle? Is the idler wheel free to press against the platter rim and the motor shaft? This will get you started in the right direction.
Regards.
Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.
