Hi y'all,

I found and joined this group to help me find various ephemera (e.g., advertisements, photos, Sams Photofacts, model information, etc. – high resolution digital images of them is just fine) concerning an RCA Portable Stereo Phonograph my mom purchased new for our family’s Christmas gift in 1963. I still have the Demonstration LP (i.e., "This is Dynagroove" - PRS-140) that accompanied it. A few color snapshots that show various small parts of it exist (which I am happy to share) but nothing as complete as I would enjoy having for my scrapbook pages of that Christmas. Hopefully, the snapshot image uploaded with this post can be viewed showing it opened up with a few LPs stacked on it. Below is a description:

A two-tone (white and blue-gray) vinyl-covered case housed the turntable, controls and tube amplifier, which folded up and latched like a suitcase. The turntable’s RPM (33 1/3, 45, & 78), on, off, and automatic or manual ejection controls were in the front right hand corner of the spring mounted turntable base. The turntable would automatically play and eject a stack of LPs or 45’s with a rectangular 45 adapter (shown on top of the case near the handle in the attached image). The volume, tone controls were horizontally situated on the right side of the turntable. The player came on a chrome stand (partially shown in the attached image) that was equipped with casters and held records upright below the player with chrome wire separators. Two blue-gray vinyl-covered speaker cabinets were hinged on each side that could be opened for playing or lifted off the hinges for sitting away from the player with about 10 feet of speaker wire available. My guess is that, behind the matching grill cloth, each of the two removable cabinets contained about an 8 inch full range speaker.

Any help obtaining digital images, photos, advertisements, catalogs, Sam's Photofacts, or other ephemera about this phonograph would be greatly appreciated by me and our whole family who fondly remembers this Christmas.

Best regards,

Texas Scrapbooker
