Edison A 250 Questions

Hello I recently aqured a Edison A 250 ont the base plate is in bad shape most of the paint has fallen off and I want to resstore it it the spring . I bought some decals for the pin striping But the color of the base plate in in question it appears to be Black laquer but I am told they were a brownish color any ideas? Thanks Doug

Your best bet might be to get in touch with some of the shops that specialize in phonograph restoration such as:

The ones I've seen look more "charcoal" in color than either brown or pure black, but I've never worked on an Edison DD model.
