Lately I'm finding if I've not used it for a few days, after a making a selection, the mechanical circuit breaker trips out. On re-setting, it re-starts and then presents no further problems. It lives in our summerhouse, but in the winter I keep it covered in bubble-wrap and it has a 40w lamp in it for some low heat and a rechargeable box of dehumidifying crystals, so it doesn't get too cold or damp.
Any ideas?

That symptom usually indicates a "dirty" motor--either the basket, and/or griper motor--whichever starts up after pushing on the breaker. I would clean/oil (20 wt. only), both motors--check/replace the brushes, as needed, and expect the problem to disappear--- IF that does not stop the problem, I would try changing the breaker, or using a 1.6 amp slow blow fuse in it's place--If it does not blow the new CB, or, fuse, the CB was bad--Ron Rich

Today I put it on scan and ran it for a couple of minutes, without any problems. Then I tried a selection which it played fine.
So I guess it's because it hasn't been used much lately.
I can't see any way of getting any oil into either of the scan or gripper motors without taking them out.
My Rock-Ola lubrication diagram doesn't show any indication that the motors should receive any lubricant.
So for now I'll carry on turning it over a few times every couple of days. I usually only run it when I'm doing a bit of gardening (daily in the summer) and once a week when I'm not, but it's been far too wet for that, lately, so I've been a bit remiss about playing it.
As we say, "use is the best form of preventative maintenance," so I should have adhered to that.

Most--but not all RO "Griper" motors, have a hole drilled about an inch or so back from the working gear end, along the "spline". There is a large "oil felt" there--but yes, one needs to remove the motors.open them up, check/replace the brushes, clean/lube them, including the gearbox-- Ron Rich
