Hi all,
I have had this Garrard SL65 player for a few years now, and have always had the problem: when the record comes to an end, the arm picks up and returns to the armrest, then goes to repeat the record. OK fine, but then right after the stylus sets back down on the record, the arms again lifts off of the record, and then goes over to the armrest and returns to record OVER AND OVER AGAIN. It seems all parts are well lubricated, and I even looked at the service manual I downlaoded form online, and I cannot see any spring missing from the "trigger" on the main cam. but upon disassembly and inspection, it does flop around a bit, and looks like the trigger COULD be bent, but am not sure because of poor angle of parts blow-up illustration. Please help. Thank you.

P.S. anyone needing the repair and maintanance manual for the Model 50 MkII / SL55 or the Model 60 MkII / SL65 - send me an email, will shoot you a copy of it.

Several things to look for:

- The trip parts must NOT be lubricated, other than a very thin grease where the trip slide drags on the plinth. The trip parts on the cam should be stripped of the original lube (which turns rubbery, and can cause this trouble), Replace it with graphite lock lubricant.

- If the changer is not level, the trip parts could vibrate back to the active position during the cycle.

- There should be a little stud that almost touches the cam. It is about an inch behind the record spindle, under the turntable, but on top of the plinth. It's job is to push the trip parts back to their inactive position. If this is loose or missing, the change cycle will repeat. (I had to take my SL-55 apart to find it. The stud doesn't appear in any view in my repair manual.}
