Bob you need to post the d-l link that Fileconvoy (or others) give.

Hi Ron

Not sure what I am looking for. Sending pictures again. Motor has no place to oil it and is saturated inside.

Thanks
Bob

Bob,
Get thee to a drug store--purchase a flashlight, and some reading glasses  --that motor has two "places" to oil.
One is on top --it's just a "hole in the rubber" below the motor coupling --in the rear--difficult to see, but it IS there--other is the brass oil cup sticking out down below--
What are you using for oil ?
Yes--that's the small cap that should have been eliminated--years ago--

Bob, when you upload that file stay on the site till it finishes. At that point the screen will change to another page that will have the download link, Copy-paste that link to a post here.

Yep, the quality is excellent. you are not running slow, the machine has flutter.

Some possible causes:

Damaged fiber (white) gear. I had this on a V-hideaway. After all was washed and rebuilt, I did notice a slightly mangled section of fiber gear. I lubed it and let it run for a few hours and the worm gear re-established good teeth in the gear. It is still in service.

Poor-no lube in the vertical bearing over the motor. With sound off you will hear a squeal and feel vibration if this is happening. The same condition can apply to the clutch bearing.

Take a look at the clutch member (rear of mech) and make sure the clutch member isn't hitting the lower pins slightly. This can easily be dealt with by doing the 4 clutch adjustments. But don't do them if things appear OK.

Excessive play and slop in the turntable bushings. In at-rest mode feel the turntable and see if there is a lot of floppiness. This is rarely a problem but can occur in a machine this old.

Is the record firmly clamped? If the clamp spring has been stretched and weakened the record may be slipping. Easy to check.

Is the second section of the motor capacitor not being disconnected while in play mode? On your machine that will be a large gray wire coming from the capacitor to a blade on the vertical stack of contacts on the front of the machine. If these stay closed during play mode the motor will skip-phase and flutter will occur.

Even after washing and initial lube I often hear slight speed irregularities when bringing these old machines back from a long sleep. I make sure they are thoroughly lubed and then just let them run for an hour or so. This usually "works out" and indentations on the fiber gear and rubber coupling.

I figured I'd forget something...Check that the pilot hole on the turntable is not gunked with either dirt or oxidation. This can prevent the turntable from fully clamping.

Rob
Checked all. Cant find a problem with any of that. Seems if it was a clamping problem it would affect both sides. ???
I am new to this so I don't really know.
Thanks
Bob

Bob,
Unless it's the TT thrust bearing, I agree, side of record should not make any "clamping" difference---
Didja check that bearing --didja check the other two "thrust bearing adjustments"--didja- ------- PROPERLY--using the "correct oil"-- oil the motor(both, top and, bottom), and the rest of the "drive train" ?

Bob, one thing I did notice is that the pickup appears to ride low on the record. I'm not familiar with how Tisdale set the tracking angle on his design, but if there is excessive tracking pressure on one side this could cause the flutter -especially if the cart 'bottoming" against the record.

If the clamping is inadequate and the tracking pressure is too high this can cause slippage.

BTW: Does it do this on all records?

Rob/NYC

P.S. I'm home tonight and expecting guests in an hour, so I'll have to check back tomorrow.

Hi Rob

It does it with all records on the CCW side. You can notice it in the back ground music more than the main singing or what ever. I set the needle pressure with a gauge so both side are the same. There is clearance between the cartridge and record. This is the third different type of cartridge I have tried and they all sound the same.

Thanks
Bob
