Ron:
Thanks for the offer. However, I have good news! After staring at the schematic for what seemed to be an eternity, I figured out what happens when a coin is put in and a selection made. This does, indeed have a scan control unit, and what the problem turned out to be was the solenoid that pulls momentarilly as soon as the selection is made, that pulls the ratchet and pawl mechanism to engage the microswitch which starts the search process was NOT pulling hard enough to move the cam, and hence, the microswitch was not being closed. The plunger of the solenoid was quite dirty (imagine that!)and the body of the solenoid may have had a small piece of lint or other impediment in it, preventing the shaft from bottoming. After carefully cleaning the shaft, and body of the solenoid, it now bottoms, allowing the ratchet and pawl to move the cam enough to close the microswitch. I played over 50 records back-to-back after cleaning, and each one loaded properly! Thanks for you offer, though.
