Hi all
Let me start by introducing myself
My name is Steve and I am from Mechanicsburg PA
I just purchased a Rowe R-87 Jukebox
Everything seems to be working fine right now
I replaced the vloume pot, which went pretty well
The box wasnt playing the B side (selections that start with 2) but now it is for some reason
Also the "0" wasnt registering but now that is working for some reason
I'll keep on eye on those issues

My question is this:
I would like to lubricate the gear that operates the arm that grabs the record
It looks like it was previously lubricated with white lithium grease, is this the proper lubrication?

Im sure i will have more questions, but thats it for now

Any info that you all feel like giving me on this box would be greatly appreciated
such as the "look out for" type of stuff

This is my first box and I would like to cut my teeth properly by learing from the pros

Hi Steve,

Forget any lubrication, it should be run dry. Strip all of the gripper bow assembly down and wash all the parts with soapy water.
Reassemble and put grease in the ends of the trunion casting.
Check that the moulding on the gripper bow is not damaged, this could be why it is not selecting the B sides.
Have you checked that the two coils energize (these are the toggle solenoids) a pawl is pushed out from the solenoid which activates a section of plastic moulding on the rotators (again if this has broken off it will not work correctly).

I think the best advise any "pro" can give any "newbie" is to purchase a good copy of the Service Manual, and then --do no harm-- until you have READ and understood it--and then, if not sure, AXK, Axk, Axk, prior to "doing" anything. Ron Rich !

Still, for the "newb" most of it seems pretty intimidating
So i would rather ask, visualize what i have to do, ask again ...then go for it

Well, somewhere in that manual is a paragraph on "lubrication"--- after you have read it, I will tell you that it's WRONG
