Wurlitzer Superstar Model 3600 - Need help

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help with a few pointers.
I just purchased my second jukebox, a 1972 Wurlitzer Superstar, Model 3600.
It is very clean and well preserved from only two past owners. I was told that they didn't have any problems and it was also professionally detailed four years ago. In the move to storage evidently it quit working. This is now my jukebox that isn't working.

It does power on and the lights go on. Also, the record carousel does function when in scan mode. However, that is it.

It has the coin operation assembly in tact and when I put a quarter in it it doesn't light up to say that I have any "plays" coming, but it does seem to take my selection such as "A7", etc. However, that is the extent of it. There is no movement after punching the song. Nothing at all. No carousel movement, no grabbing for the record and no record player/tone arm movement. Just dead. Everything looks to be intact as it is clear that the owner kept it very clean but obviously something is wrong.

Is it possible that I'm missing anything simple? When I got it off the truck I loosened the four screws that were tightened for shipping. Is it possible something else is hanging it up?

Is there a way to bypass the coin operation and just do free play?

I get the feeling it is something minor that needs to be tweaked and I don't want to mess around only to ruin it.

I would appreciate any suggestions/advice.

Thanks.

First--I would advise you to read above "Attn, Newbies---"
Then I would suggest you check the "select lamp". Next you need to determine if the "selection accumulator motor" is operating. If so, is the "accumulator releasing pins" ? If not operating--why-??
For this you probably will need to purchase the Service Manual--which brings me back to the "first thing, above". Yes, there is a "no problem way" to free play this model. Ron Rich

I have a 7500 console model and it has the same "guts" as the 3600 does. Did you actually see this machine work before transporting it back to your place? If so, what may have happened (happened with mine), was that the several connectors that plug into the control box and into various other place underneath the carousel, may have worked themselves loose from a good connection. Try (with the power off/unplugged from the wall), unplugging each connector and re-seating it into the socket. After you have done this with all of them, try to select. There should be four plugs that go into sockets under the carousel. The problem could also be a blown fuse in the control box, but this is unlikely (if it worked before you moved it). Like Ron mentioned before, you really need to get a 3600 Service Manual and read up on how the jukebox operates. The 3600 service manual has a good trouble-shooting guide inside, that details what to look for with various symptoms/problems. There is a way to switch the juke over to "free-play" mode, but you need to figure out the problem of just getting it to work before worrying about the other. The free-play conversion will require you to re-pin one of the connectors. Good luck and let us know what happens. Thanks - Bill
