GETTING QUALIFIED REPAIRS QUESTION

In the WANTED section I recently posted seeking a particular 1959 Magnavox Symphonette console. Well, son of a gun, I found one available right here on Phonoland. It wasn't listed for sale, but it was pictured. Figuring I had nothing to loose, I contacted it's owner and he agreed to sell it to me. I am so grateful to him and to Phonoland. The stereo is in pretty good condition but does need some work by a qualified technician. I live in Central Florida - Greater Orlando area. Does anyone know of a reputable repair/refurbishing vintage phonograph business between say Atlanta GA (a one day drive) and Miami FL...or the greater southeast area? I having no luck locally, but finding shops in the northeast and far west. Thanks for any help out there! Dave

Sadly, in this day and age, us "reputable" restorers are scarce these days.
And I can understand why.
Either the passionate old farts have died off, or the younger "electronics crowd" just can't be bothered with the tedious procedure involved in restoring these old things to a suitable working order.
I suspect the latter are more interested in making money the fast way - and that doesen't happen fast enough for them - because it involves too much labor.

On the other hand, there are numerous internet wannabe "tinkerer's" that attempt to fill the void - and these are to be avoided at all costs.
That is, if you really value the item in question, and want it to perform as intended, for a long long time.
