My wife recently brought home a Philco series 14 tube type radio from her grandmothers estate. We cleaned it up, plugged it in, and we had power. The problem is that two of the tubes are not lighting and we are therefore not able to get the radio to play. Where can I get these older tubes? There is what looks like grease pencil on the inside of the cabinet that reads 7-19-26 if that helps any.
Thanks for your help,
Jeff

Jeff, you have a somewhat valuable radio and should not be turning it on until certain parts replacements are made. The date you read tho is later than 1926, perhaps 1936, etc. A common practice with repairmen was to enter a date when repair was made. A radio restorer could probably determine the correct date of that repair by checking the parts. Your radio is a 1933 radio. You need to get the radio in the hands of a radio repairman. If you want to take on the repair, it's possible you could complete it. But get some help from some folks like on the Antique Radio site. Some very smart and willing people there.
