Info on Brunswick Lorraine model

I just bought a Brunswick Panatrope Lorraine cabinet phonograph at a garage sale. It cranks and seems to work, and is in pretty good shape. I just need to replace the felt on the turntable and find a needle. Can anyone help me find more info on the year of production, etc? I've found no reference to the Lorraine model on the internet yet. It has a plate with the name and the serial#138177. I'd like to get it playing and start figuring out how to restore the finish while not ruining the value. It came with a stack of Spiritual and "Race Records" from the Southern United States and I'd like to see how they sound.

The Lorraine model is a new one on me. I have a Madrid, and have heard of a Stratton, Florida, Seville, Cortez just to name a few. Is it an upright or console cabinet, & is there any chance you could post a picture?
You'll have to buy more than just one needle I'm afraid. The normal steel needles for wind-up phonographs can only be used to play one side of a record, and then you throw them away. The little cups near the turntable of your machine were used to hold the new needles, and there should be one cup with a cover and hole, which was used to put the steel needle in once it was used. The good news is that needles are dirt cheap. You can get plenty off ebay for $5-10 for a couple hundred needles, or they can be bought cheaper, but being in Australia, you'll have to find out a good U.S. supplier.
I think Brunswick panatropes are fantastic machines, and largely under-rated by a lot of collectors. IMO, they're every bit as good as a Victor.

Thanks for the quick reply and the info on the needles. I will try to get a Photo tonight and post it. Of the three needs holes only one has the cup. I did find a pic of a Seville on the web http://umeya.bz/php/gramophone/detail.php?num=64 and it looks almost identical, with the exception of mine having a little more detail above the doors. The design on the doors and the design on of the grill look the same, as do the legs. Mine isn't in quite that good of shape, but after a cleaning and a few parts, it might compete. I'll post that picture later.

Here is a photo of the Brunswick Panatrope Lorraine I recently bought. It is my first an only Phonograph, so I appreciate the help. I haven't been able to find any references to this model on the Web so far, but I'm sure there is a book out there somewhere with this model.

Interesting that I've never seen or heard of this model before, but I just noticed there's an empty cabinet the same as your model, on Ebay Australia.
Yours looks like a nice upright. It should have the same running gear as my Madrid, which sounds fantastic.

I as well just purchased a Brunswick (model Lorraine).
The cabinet and finish is in really good shape,,, this is the first phonograph I've actually layed eyes on,, picked it up for $150.

That looks to me like a rebranded Seville.
