Moving Rock Ola 1426

Hello Phonoland this is my first, and likely not my last post. I need to move a Rock Ola 1426 that has been in my family since the early 50's. I need to get it up 1 flight of stairs, about 20 miles, and down another flight of stairs. I would of course like to do this without damaging the item. Here is what the wisdom of the internet has given me thus far:

•Find Mechanism Securing Bolts (how many?) and Secure
•Remove Records
•Use Tape to secure, turntable, junction box, amplifier and any other loose parts.
•Pack cord in cabinet
•Secure front and back of cabinet with tape
•Move with appliance dolly and plenty of padding
•Secure upright in truck with plenty of padding and straps

Anybody have any specific instructions for this model?

There were 4 "fist size "nuts"" that fit under the mechanism board ( one in/near each corner ). Also be sure to secure the tone arm, and you should read the "sticky" above---Ron Rich

I am pleased to say the aforementioned juke box is now in my basement. It turns out there were only two knobs present to tighten down the springs, one on each side. I used a lot of the 3M no residue tape on things that looked like they could move, including making a tape cage around the record trays so they did not come flying out. The most important part of the moving process was having 3 huge guys found on Craigslist doing the lifting. I have not even dusted it off yet but it looks rather beautiful.

The sound output became low and rather muffled over the last 30 years or so of inactivity. Since there was no major malfunction I will guess it is related to deterioration of something over time. The speaker cone looked alright on my brief initial inspection, so I am guessing it is a capacitor issue. I have the manuals and cannot wait to clean it up and start tinkering.
