Seeburg V Gold Plating On Some Trim

by juke46 » Sun Mar 08, 2015 1:43 pm

Since I bought the Seeburg V we now have, I've seen are claims that some of the trim parts are gold plated. I just wondered if that is true? Mine appears to be painted gold in the areas that are gold colored. If someone painted over the "gold" trim perhaps the gold trim was worn off in spots and painting was the only practical remedy.

Years ago, at the Pasadena Fun Fair, we saw a 50's Wurlitzer (not sure what model) seemed like about everything on it was gold plated or appeared to be. I am probably incorrect but it seems like the records were even gold. They looked like the ones they used to use to stamp vinyl records, I think. I remember it was playing too. Just wondered if anyone else seen/remembers that machine. It was a ton of money. I sure wish I had taken a picture of it.

This sounds like the one, from 1986, but no pictures. I found it on the net. Ft Knox of Record Firms.

Thanks Everyone! David (Geritol Ghetto)

Ain't no gold on a V cabinet, or any other jukebox cabinet !

Ron,
Thank Goodness! My wife would want to melt it down or wear it. That was a really outlandish claim on the internet.

Hi David,
When it becomes necessary to "kill time", I usually read eBay--Seeburg, just for laughs--
Some of the claims--no, MOST of the claims there are pure B.S. ! ( Utube "how to fizzit" too, are mostly incorrect--some have REALLY bad advice, IMHO ! ) Ron Rich

Yes, Ron, it's a fact that you can't always rely on the internet for accurate information.
Lord knows I've come across a ton of laughable information through the years, and through that the uninformed and uneducated become prey to this mis-information.
So in my own small way, I attempt to dispell this crap, and straighten out people with real facts and figures.
But it's a shame though, that some people are just too stubborn to accept the facts, even if hard evidence contrary to their mistaken beliefs is placed right in front of them.
For those types, I just shake my head and move on - ya just can't please everyone.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

No gold as such, but the cheeks behind the towel bar supports are shiny, waffle pleated gold color (of some sort).

I did see a partially gold plated Wurlitzer mech at a show back in the 1990s (either Philadelphia or Hackensak).

I didn't like the look.
