Edison Phonograph

by RW1850 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:17 pm

I just aquired an old Edison Diamond Disc Phonograph with the cabinet in pieces. Most everthing is there, but I will have to replace most of the veneer which appears to be mahogony. My question is what type of mahogony is typically used on these ? I was told to look for Honduran mahogony but have found mostly African mahogony. How close are these in color and grain and would work best for this application ?

Thanks
Rod
