I recently bought a used Crosley CR66 Rochester entertainment center. The wires in the tone arm to the cartidge have been pulled off and I do not know how they go back on. There are two black, a white and a red wire. The cartridge has one hole marked R and the Other L which I assume means right and left but which wire goes where. The other two holes are not marked. does anyone know how the wires go?

If your cartridge has "holes", then something's not right there.
Now if you mean PINS, the outer R-L pins are for the colored wires, and the inner two are for the black.

There are pins on the end of the wires but just holes in the cartridge. What should be on the end of the wires?

Normally, most carts have male pins sticking out, and corresponding female parts, that fit those pins.
Don't know, but will the "pins" you have "plug into" the holes in the cart. ? Ron Rich

What you've got is one of those "repo" chinese Crosley units.
They're of low quality and have a tendency to show up in our shop for repair a lot.
The cartridge in them should have 4 pins sticking out of the rear, opposite of the needle.
It sounds like yours is damaged beyond repairing, and needs replacement.

The only thing that should be permanantly connected to the 4 wires is a tiny "clip" soldered on each one, that slides over the pins on the cartridge.

THIS is what a chinese-made cartridge for those should look like.
