I don't care for this sort of hack...but see what you think of it:

Me?
I generally don't mind simple mods as long as they are non-destructive and reversible. But that's only if the mod is **actually** reversed by the person who did them. I believe an item, no matter whether its an arcade game or jukebox is more likely to end up in a landfill the more "franken" it has become. It's a main reason I always strive to bring things back to original.

In the case of the video, it seems he is selling it so I disagree with his decision.
However if it's the case where the jukebox is -truly- not repairable and would otherwise be busted up (etc) then I'm absolutely for re-purposing it.

I've done essentially the same setup in the video with an old Android tablet, except I'm using bookshelf speakers not a jukebox.

Hi, Guys, here's a franken juke. Used to be a hideaway.

This came up in my recent Craigslist searches:

First of all, nothing says "music" like two spinning 12" laserdiscs.
How many "hundreds of hours" did it take to do THAT? Ha!

Call me an "elitist" but these are all terrible.
Maybe they started with a gutted shell, I get that.
Some people just want the aesthetics with functionality, I get that too.
But holy crap, do something more imaginative and make the machine "work."
Commercial coin-operated devices are awesome and they SHOULD function
from top to bottom, they should accept coins correctly and they, if at all humanly
possible, work as close to their original intended function as they can.

Hearing the mechanism travel, click, whirl and bang around brings me great joy.
And as much as the youngest generation has grown up on touchscreen displays,
things such as jukes (and pinballs, too) should be an ESCAPE from yet another SCREEN.

Thank you and good night.
