Magnavox Collaro Amp 147 AA

Hi everybody,

I am very new to this board (and also this world!) but I recently acquired a Magnavox Collaro changer turntable housed in a small table like construction. There are four removable legs and a speaker in front. There is a lid that opens 3/4 of the way and locks in place. The model number is AMP 147 AA (as far as I can tell). I bought it from someone on craigslist and there were a couple of issues:

1. The 33 speed was not working properly
2. The automatic arm was not working properly
3. One half of the dual needle is worn out

So I took it to a stereo repair shop here in Brooklyn (NY) and he was able to rebalance everything and get the arm working properly. The sound is good and, aside from the occassional skip and stick, is solid. I am concerned about the needle and the tubes however. I want to make sure I can locate a source for these parts should it be necessary. I estimate that the player is from the 1950s based on the repair guy, who said he has been working with these things for many decades and has not seen one of these - his guess was the 60s at first and, after he worked on it, he said it must be older.

Anyway, the tubes are as follows:

12AX7
6X5GT
6V6GT (2)

I am wondering if anyone can just give me some information on the piece in general and also any info on replacement parts, maintenance, etc would be awesome. I am excited to learn more!

Thanks!

Darren

A photo of the turntable would let me get the date within a couple of years.
