Glad you "found" Warren--I hate to admit this, as I've known him for at least 40+ years--but, he IS, one of the "good guy's"--Oh, S----, iffin he happens to read this, I'll never hear the end of it, as we talk on the phone often--guess I'll have to deny writing this !!
As for what your WurliTzer is doing now--that's "normal" as the AVC activates. You can check your needle landing adjustment, and control it, somewhat, there--Landing further out on the records, will lessen the time it appears to take, to build the audio back up. It also might be that the amplifier AVC circuit is getting old and tired.
. ( "Back-off" the adjusting screw, if possible--remembering all records were NOT, exactly, built to the same standards--so if you go too far, some records may not "start").
