Rockola 3000 series normal operation

by rick447 » Tue Feb 11, 2014 3:03 am

Hello all,
My first time here so be gentle, lol.
I have a Rockola 300-3, looks great and all lights up but would not play.
I have the sevice manual and schedmatics and found the gripper motor shorted out along with the 25v regulator.
I replaced all the parts and now have it working great except it will not go into normal operation, only stays in default pricing.
Do I need to reprogram the pricing and will that put it back into the normal operation mode?
Also my coin mech. and dollar bill will not work, wonder if the pricing problem be the cause of this too.
any help will be thankful.

Rick

Rick: As with anything, it’s always good practice to start with checking all fuses, connections, etc. To get past your “pricing” question, try to set up free play. If your top button does not advance options toward the columns to the right on you (S-3 or S-4) controller, and if the scan control switch does not rotate the magazine, the controller may be at fault. If so, the first and easiest thing to look at is the battery, located inconveniently between the boards inside the controller. If defective it can cause problems. Consider replacing it by removing the old one and running leads outside the controller and mounting a 3.6v ni-cd battery (I use cordless phone batteries) inside the cabinet. You can find this topic discussed on several threads on this forum. Your controller may or may not work after replacing the battery, but it will not work with a bad one, so it’s a good first step.
