CONSOLE STEREO NEEDLE (I THINK IT'S A MAGNAVOX) ???

My grandmother's Magnavox Console Stereo with radio & 8-track player which was purchased from Sears in the late 1960's or early 1970's was ruined in Hurricane Katrina 2005. My mother had cherished it & used it daily for years as it "had her mother & all five children's fingerprints on it" along with years of happy memories ... A very nice lady gave my mother her Console Stereo which was on a 3rd floor and not affected by the storm, however I have been unable to locate a model number or a source for purchasing the needle ... I have a scan/pic of the needle (well sorta - the actual needle is missing - just the plastic & metal) which shows "ST14 78" or could be "S114 78" and I was hoping someone may recognize it and point me in the right direction to purchase one ... I'd so like to be able to give my mother another Christmas listening to her mother's old-time Christmas albums ... I'm new at this board posting thing, but I'm going to try to attach the picture ... Please reply ... Thanks.

It's some type of needle made by ElectroVoice. I have a similar needle (ST16) and the packaging says that it was used in a lot of popular BSR cartridges of the 70's. An ST17 works as well. I have one of the 4-channel discreet turntable/AM-FM/8-track units with a BSR turntable. It's got a "toggle" switch in the front that rotates to adjust the balance between four speakers. --BB

TERASANNE,
Go to Ebay and get your needle. Do a search for ST14 and it will come up for sale from some very reliable sellers. Cheap too.

I have gotten alot of my needles from Radio Shack. Back in the day, you could go to the store where they had a chart and the would order them and have them shipped directly to your house. For the last several years I've been ordering them online at Radio Shack. The needles for my Astro-sonics used to be around $4.99 - $5.99.
I used to get my cartridges from Garage-a-Records. They had a wide variety and their prices weren't rediculous. I can't remember their pricing for needles though. --BB
P.S.: Sorry I didn't respond very quickly. I'm not in here every day, just a few times a week.
