I am looking at this jukebox and when it is switched on, it would appear that a record had been selected, as the turntable is moving the gripper arm is in place at the turntable , but the turntable keeps moving and wont stop, when the tonearm is moved to the end of the record, the process of record removal and tonearm lifting doesn't happen, my previous experience is with rockolas and haven't worked on a wurlitzer, i have a copy of the manual for the 3800 series, can anyone tell me the sequence of operation when a record is finished and what i should check for

"Sequence of operation" is basically the same as any record changer/jukebox.
Record end activates an end of record switch, which (in some manor) starts an operation to return the record (in the case of a jukebox) to the record holder. and return the tone arm to the "ready position". If my memory serves me--the 3800 series WurliTzers use the end of record switch to trigger a traic, which then powers the "changer motor". The Schematic should show this-- Ron Rich

At the bottom of the tone arm assembly there is a microswitch which will depress when the tone arm is moved to the end of the record, does nothing when pressed manually, is it this that operates the motor via the traic, also is the traic situated in the control box and is there any common fault with the traic boards

You found it--yes--the triacs fail, along with other parts on the board-

Do you happen to know the specification of the traics, i see them listed on the parts page of the manual as TR5, 3 and 1, but no value listed, can they be replaced with higher value ones to make them a bit more robust

From what i can gather i would reckon that this series of jukebox is to be avoided, its a nice looking machine but doesn't have a great track record

Yes, IMHO, I do not care too much for the 34, on up series--
I have used NTE 58009/10's with no problem--simply because I stock them--

Other facts about the late Americana line from Wurlitzer. They pioneered a new record changer mechanism on these machines, made for a short few years. Many operators had myriad issues with these jukeboxes when new. Many were repaired by Wurlitzer under warranty, so many of them that it sank the original NY Wurlitzer Company. So, you see many of these retired from route service with little hours on them. The German branch of the company survived with the Lyric line forward.
