Rockola 1000 gripper arm won't release record

Rockola was working great until I noticed the gripper motor starting to slow down. I found myself rotating it manually until it would move on it's own. I figured all it would need is a little oil. I removed the motor and oiled it up. All I had at the time was 10 wt oil so I tried it. (I realize I need 20 wt). Reinstalled the motor but no real change. Then a few days later I was manually spinning the motor from below to help it along and it seized. I manually got it back to home spot and when I scanned the magazine it started snapping records. I immediately stopped it (5 albums broken...dang). I looked and realized that the inner gripper arm wasn't retracting. It is in "grasp mode".On tope of this I now have no power to either the gripper motor or the magazine motor.

Ron and gang... any clue. I checked all fuses and they all seemed fine. I can't figure out how the inner arm retracts or why my power is now gone to BOTH of those motors.

Thanks a million...

Brosk,
--"fuses--", you "checked fuses"--I thought the 1000 had circuit breakers ??
Lost power supply ?

Thanks Ron, Let me clarify: Yes, there are about 10 fuses throughout. All slow blow. They are between 1amp to 5 amp. No circuit breakers. I have checked the voltage in most places and everything is fine except there is no power going to the system mechanisms. Turntable is fine (it actually is just spinning in all modes except for off) and everything else seems fine as well.

In looking at it right now the only thing that sticks out is that the Voltage Indicator light is out for -28 VDC but I am unsure of what that means.

I know it is Volts DC. I just don't know what the light being unlit is telling me.

LOL... What could be the cause? What should I be looking for...

Alright... I have come to realize I am awful at reading schematic diagrams. (even though I am a science teacher)

I really wish there was a written out list of things to check out.

I guess my biggest question is: How would you rectify the problem if there was no power getting to your system mechanisms? Is the power supply shot?

Ugh, I just bought this from a dealer a month ago. I am totally bummed about this... Alright, back to trying to decipher the schematics!

I've still got nothing here. I've been reading over the service manual and schematics but I can't figure out what to try.

Can someone be my hero and tell me what I can try to fix to get power back to my gripper and magazine motors? Thanks guys...
