Hello everyone,

I have just acquired the a sterio consol as pictured here.

http://www.instappraisal.com/antique-ap ... model-a726

One speaker is not working and I don't even know how to actuate the turntable. The radio sounds awesome even through just one speaker.

Can anyone tell me more about the age of this machine and a source for an owners manual. Also I will need to have it serviced and would like to know where in Virginia or near to there would be a good place to have it done.

Eventually I would like to have my grandfather's old Halicrafter shortwave radio restored. I am glad to have found this forum.

Cheers,
Jack

Most likely the electronics have age-related deterioration, as does the record changer.
Avoid using it at all until it's been gone over by a reputable tech, to avoid adding expense to the final costs involved.
I tell that to all my customers to help save them from monsterous resoration costs.
Alas, some, already did the damage, not knowing that vintage electronics are not plug-n-play like "new" stuff.

Thank you for responding MattTech,

I knew that vacuums are delicate but I didn't know that solid state electronics were. I have used the radio

How would you advise me to seek out a person who still knows how to work on these?

Thanks again,
Jack
