Rockola 451 - Mute Circuit

I amp picks up "hum/noise" through the scan and pick sequence. So I assume there is a problem with the mute circuit. I see a Mute Relay on the one of the control modules. Are there any simple diagnostics?[/u][/quote]

Going into power plug on amp is a black/orange wire. With no record playing, ground that wire and run your finger under the needle. If amp mutes, problem is in wire harness. If not, does the muterelay click? If yes, maybe dirty relay or problem in amp. If relay does not click, problem in amp.
