Just Acquired a GE Super Trimline 400

by jmac812 » Fri Aug 29, 2014 5:03 am

Hey Y'all!
Before I start, I must say that I'm glad a forums for such a thing exists.
Anyways, I just acquired this from a local thrift shop for $25. First off, I need to know what are the needs to check out. The Turntable is stiff and doesn't turn. The needle picks up static, but the right speaker doesn't work. I would like to know what I can do to fix this thing and make it last!

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Hi Justin,
I would advise you to un-plug that unit, and at least read the "sticky" above this post, concerning this subject !

"What to do" - is beyond the average person's scope and understanding of such things.
It's simply not an internet-worthy thing, much less worth dicussing.
The knowledge of electronics, troubleshooting procedures, along with the intricate understanding of record changer mechanicals is often ignored or mis-conveyed over this venue.
Then you wind up with slop, or a paperweight.

Go find a reputable (as I've stated many many times) servicer experienced in the proper servicing procedures, because it ain't something easy to explain over a screen.

I realize us guys are scarce, but not all of us are dead yet.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.
