Would an Axial Leaded Electrolytic 50V 22uf, or an Axial Leaded Electrolytic 50V 1000uF cap do the trick?

Keith,
Buy a new diode--almost any "signal" diode will work, and any "1N000x" diode will do just fine--
The cap is a 20X50v unit --22X50, will be just fine--( if you are "lucky", even your closest Rat Shack, will have these two items in stock--)

Thanks Ron

I have had a RESULT.

While debating the Cap size issue, I swapped the cap from the good board onto the bad board and the bad board is now good. That was a 25uf 50V cap.

The reason I asked about the 1000uf 50V cap was because that is the only 50V cap that Rat Shack has listed on their website, they have smaller ones, but they are all below 20uf.

If I go for a 22uf or 25uf it looks like I will have to order a pack of 10 from eBay.

Keith,
Glad you 'got-it" !!
GO to the local Rat shack--I'll bet they have a 22x63 in stock--which is the "modern" listing for that cap--
