Hi Rob,
You say to check the "--36 ohm---" are you sure you don't mean the 56K ohm ?? That one ( if one would read the service bulletins, which suggested it) should be changed from a 2W,WW to a, 4W,WW. Ron Rich

Both...and that is a good point. I've had repeated failures with the original resistors.

For the 56K I just gang four 220K -because I have a lot of them. That solution has never required another replacement.

For the 36 I've used whatever i had on-hand up to 56 ohm, but always 2Watt or more.

These circuits aren't that critical. I've seen the 56K up to over 200K and the mech still selected.

There are so many posts! Thanks for your Tips.

I will sum up: I have now to check the 36 Ohm and the 56k Ohm R in the Supply and i have to clean the switch 2M1 and 3M12. I am right?

Hi Max,
In my humble opinion, of course it would be nice to check the resistor values, but if shorting the "W" ("2M-1" ?) contacts fires the detent coil, all you NEED do. is "clean" them as described above, and check the adjustment of them as per the Service Manual. The 3M-12 contacts are NOT in the detent circuit ( see the mech schematic), they are in the end of record, trip-off circuit. Ron Rich

Max I suggest checking those two resistors because pressing the trip relay and 2M1 contacts only checks the trip solenoid and wiring -it does not check the ability to readout and they often fail on all the older tormat models.
