Hi
I experienced this type of problem with a rockola 432 and rockola 434, apart from tightening up the basket motor, the only way i could solve it was a combination of adjusting the read out arm and slightly bending the record slots, there's a bit of play in them but be careful they could snap, i had to go through the basket several times before i got it fully right. There's a good bit of tolerance when the gripper arm picks the record up but less when its returned.

Thanks Clones, its good to know Im not the only one with this problem. I think you're right, I will probably need to tweak the read out best I can for the majority of positions, then bend the stubborn ones accordingly
EDIT: Actually, I did wonder about making a jig to check if all separators are spaced properly and then making sure all were ok. Is there any defined gap they should have? Or is it just a case of bend the dodgy ones?

I think it's just a case of starting with the "rest" position to make sure the gripper is dead centre and working fro there.
You probably have already checked this, but are you sure that the basket isn't "wobbling" when you put it on "scan" and run it?

Yeah no wobble, any movement seems to have been fixed by remouting the basket motor.
The first few slots have very obviously been bent at some point as the gaps are wider than the others, so Im going to have try and work out if they were bent forwards or all bent backwards

If someone has bent the separators, I doubt if you will ever get it perfect again.
When I worked on these in the mid 70's the company I worked for never allowed the bending of the separators, it only caused more problems.
I suggest that you search for another basket.

Im gonna have a go but I fear you may be right.....Do you know if I can get one from a similar aged 160 selection Rockola? Or would it need to be the same model. From what I can see they are more or less the same
