Need help identifying year of Magnavox Astro Sonic

by PCON22 » Mon Jan 27, 2014 8:40 pm

I'm considering picking up this console from Craigslist but I haven't been able to find any information on the model number online. Here's the details I know:

*Magnavox 1P3631 Console style Record Player / AM-FM Radio
*Astro Sonic
*Console is on wheels

The poster says that all of the components work well and the sound is very clear.

I've read a lot of posts on this board suggesting that some of these models need an experts touch to make sure they last into another generation.

Any feedback you can provide will help greatly. I am very appreciative. I've attached a couple of pictures to help.

I've seen that tuner used in some of the early 70's consoles and drum table units. I believe it's past 1968, using that flat 45 adapter. Borderline 70's and beyond?

What kind of feedback are you looking for? I think the small Astro-Sonics pack a nice punch, for their size. Only speaking for myself, I'd pay around $20 - $40 max if it were in excellent condition. Excellent condition could mean minimal restoration.

I paid $40 for this 1968 mini beauty about 20 years ago. Kept in my office at work for many years, just brought it home about a month ago, but it reminded folks to bring out those old dusty LP's they've had in storage for many years, and thrilled the younger workers who've never seen an LP or a 45. --BB

Thanks Bobby, that's the exact type of feedback I was hoping for.

The guy posted the unit on Craigslist for $75 and stated it was in great working condition (doubtful there was any restoration).
