SEEBURG AY-160 SCANS

by NAPA09 » Sun Nov 02, 2014 1:24 am

Just had a AY-160 brought in for a friend, It has the book and getting ready to start reading. It will take credit,number/letter buttons will hold and release causing the mech to scan only, then goes to rest .
Is there a usual problem on these jukes or where should I start? Thanks Ron

Hi Ron,
If you are not familiar enough with Seeburg's to answer you own question, I would strongly suggest that the factory Service Manual, for that model be first--and since I wrote it for both "new, and, oldbie's", I would suggest that my Seeburg Mechanism Guide" might be of some help. (PM me to purchase, if you wish)--next, the Seeburg Trouble shooting Guide for you phono should be consulted-- Ron Rich

Thanks Ron for info,I have the seeburg manual and troubleshooting guide and jumped A and B that test 17 AY said and it did pickup and play a record. It says to replace 12ax7 tube and I did that cked the wires going to torrent it then said to replace the pulse amp but it looks simple enough to rebuild . If you think theres another manual I will need I will gladly get it. The 2 that he had with it were from Victory and I'm hoping that you wrote these although I don't see where you got any credit Ron

Hi Ron,
Somehow, I think you may have mis-read the manual--
Do you know how to do the "Battery Trick"--if so, do it and let me know what happens--
No--I did not write either of those manuals the "factory" did--My "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", explains the sequence of events, both mechanically, and electrically, of the mechanism--and yep---my late friend, Tony Miller, designed the cover, and put my name way up-front ("in lights" ?)--Ron Rich

Thanks for working with me again Ron, I did reread and should have told you I jumped A to B in test L. Going to do the battery test and will get back with you.
