Major steps against SPAM

by Marcel » Tue Jun 09, 2009 1:16 pm

I just done a major cleanup of the userdatabase, deleting hundreds of accounts which I strongly believe were spammers. Ofcourse I always check for possible spammers and ban/delete their accounts, but spammers use more and more sophisticated techniques making it hard to detect which account is fake and which not. They now even keep their account active by logging in every few days without posting anything.

If your account was removed and you are -not- a spammer; contact me.

PhonoLand.com will always do it's best to keep it's forum clean and fun for everyone. For that reason we have now also invited several regular members to become moderator giving them the ability to delete spam with a few mouseclicks.

As you can see we have stepped up anti-spam measurements. If one still slips through, please PM me.

Have fun!
Marcel.

Two new members have joined the team of moderators!

ami-man and Ron Rich are now also moderator on the forum. This way I would like to welcome them both!

Currently the forum now has 4 moderators (me, Joe_DS, ami-man and Ron Rich). If you would like to volunteer for becoming moderator, please PM me. Note that you do have to be a frequent poster on PhonoLand.com to become moderator!
