Opinions on Seeburg LPC480

Hello all, I am seeking opinions from the pros on a LPC480.

Background:

I picked this up at a garage sale for $5, from what the owner said the transformer blew on the TCC and he took it out to repair but then gave up. I can definitely see signs of excessive heat around the transformer. Other than that the only thing I notice is it's missing the woofers. Parts for this model seem readily available on eBay, however I want to make sure this would be a worthy candidate before sinking a bunch of coin into it. As I'm figuring just the stuff I see right out of the gate (replacement TCC, tubes, cap kits, woofers, etc) are probably already ~$500.

This would be my first restoration, though I come from the coin op world restoring arcade games and pinballs so I feel confident I could fumble my way through recapping everything and doing the esthetic fixes it needs.

Thanks for any advice.

Paul

Hi Paul,
IMHO, the LPC-1 was not a really great sounding jukebox, unless equipped with the optional (rare) "DS" speakers. Also-- the amps had many problems--you need at least a Code C to start sounding "good"-- Aside from that, if you like the cabinet, it was a really dependable model, providing it was not "messed with"--Ron Rich

Thanks for the feedback Ron, that was exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I don't mind dumping money into a project but I at least want it to be worthwhile in the end. Sounds like this one might help bring others back to life and I'll keep my eyes open for something better to come along.
