I purchased a magnavox model 2428 it says on the back. it has a felt covered record player in one door. and another door has a am/fm shortwave reciever. I can get fm signals, but no shortwave. anyone have any info or a schematic for this radio so i can get the shortwave to work. i would also love to get a needle for the record player.. thnxs in advance.

What is usually missing is the 50 foot longwire outdoor antenna.

the only two antennas i see back there are a round one, and a fm dipole that runs the length of the console. i dont even see the green eye in the middle of the dial light up like on the fm reciever.. i can hear static though as i turn the dial..

The antenna won't be included with the set. It is usually a screw terminal or two on the back. Often one terminal is ANT for antenna, and the other is GND for ground.

You have to have a 50 foot long piece of wire stretched between insulators up on poles outside the house to get reliable shortwave reception. You also need a good ground. Remember that most of these stations are overseas.

Look for a model number on the chassis (not the number on the cabinet). Then do a search for Nostalgia Air. This is a web site that has free online schematics for many radios. I found schematics both my Magnavox AM/SW consoles there.
