WHAT IS CORRECT CARTIDGE FOR RCA EY-2 ?

by gary » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:57 am

Hi, I have just bought a RCA EY-2 Record player from a friend. Can anyone tell me what the correct cartridge and stylus is for this model. Also when plugged in it makes a loud hum. I suspect a capacitor needs replacing somewhere. Can anyone steer me in the right direction. Also what are the correct tubes for this amp and where is the best place to get them. I am located in the UK so would prefer to buy here, but I would also be happy to purchase from overseas if needs be.

Thanks

Gary

That player will need complete overhaulling, capacitors, cleaning, lubing, and a new cartridge.
The original ones are no longer around, but a retrofit kit is available from the "voice of music" website.
It'll most likely need a new idler wheel and cycle cam too.... also available from that site.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.
