Well my thanks go first of all to Kylie for putting so much trust in everything I say - I hope I don't ever let you down - that's a tall order, Lol!

Yes, I do believe that what the above 2 posters have said is correct, namely that it is easy to pass something off as "correct" and original when you can claim to not know any different. The "EMG" soundbox is one thing and I hope for Bert's sake it doesn't come back and bite him on the a**se, but the 203 business is just LOW - plain and simple, there's no damn excuse for deliberately misleading someone like that and then trying to justify it (following a verbal beating by a few folk) by stating that he was preserving the cabinet!!!!!!

That might be true, but there is a "right" way to do it and handle it when you sell on the item.

I think most people now reading this board have got a true measure of our friends lack of integrity.

It's a pity but sadly not uncommon situation.

You really do not know me..
I use different white rubber rings, same material as the white wire of a computer mouse.
It's harder plastic and gives way better sound and bass. I only recently discovered this.
I bet if EMGinn was still alive he would have experienced with new materials also..
So I'm not lying when I say they sound fantastic.I'll post the buyers respond when he receives it...

I'm selling some stuff to finance a broken engine on my Ferrari...that is the reason.Not to get rid of bad items.
Why having tons of soundboxes when other collectors can have them too and enjoy these as I do ??!!??To put them in your coffin ?
The first post I did was helping a poor fellow 202 owner having a playable gramphone.
Then came Steve putting both my idea down as well as my great find of the EMG soundbox.
Meanwhile bragging about his "perfect" 202 he owned....
I know where I came from and that's what makes me what I am. I too did not have the money to buy these lovely machines...When people buy a collectors item from me they ll get it in a much beter state as when I found it.
And can anyone please send a advertisement or any printed matter about the "astra gohst company"?
I have never seen anything about in any of the period Gramophone magazines, nor in any book about gramophone collecting...

You really are losing the plot, my friend. Just show me one line, quote or word that I've used anywhere saying that my 202 is "perfect". It isn't and I never said it was so I'm hardly "bragging" about it, am I?

Why don't you contact Francis James and ask him about the Astra soundboxes as you obviously don't believe what I've said?

All I've said against you is that you sold (according to your own account on HERE) a 203 with a non-original horn to a "Korean" and never told him what it was. That's bad and no amount of carping about me will make you right. Just contact the guy and tell HIM what he's got. If he says, okay, I don't mind I still want to keep it, then fine, that's up to him and at least he's got the chance to throw it back. If you did, we'd all admire your honesty a lot more than we currently do. Whose fault is this anyway? Yours, that's whose fault it is.

BTW, what you said about rubber gaskets is interesting, I've found the opposite to be true. I like VERY soft rubber gaskets in my EMG's and find the bass to be exceptional. I think you're using electrical cable? Mouse cable is a kind of soft plastic / rubber similar to electrical stuff?

Nobody has ever bought a machine from me that wasn't in a much better condition than it was in when I originally bought it. Most of the time, I sell at cost price and I have sold at quite a loss on many occasions too. I'm not in this to make money but all my buyers will testify that everything they've ever bought from me was accurately described.

And another thing: how did you manage to break your Ferrari engine? I thought they were nearly indestructible? Have you been blasting down those autobahns again trying to set a new land speed record?

actually I am a slow driver most of the time...
some cheap bolts (made of inferior material) broke off and caused the engine-belt to brake and ruin the valves and maybe more.
maybe it's a punishment from the gods for my wrongdoing with the Korean hmv203

I would have kept the 203 ten years ago if I didn't need the money so bad...

Anyhow I just recently decided to sell all of my property (no gramophones )in belgium and move to sunny spain to live a stressless life...

Do yourself a favour and leave Spain well alone......it's full of Brits with more money than sense!

At least it is until the UK housing market crashes through the floor and sends them all scarpering. Most "second homes" have been bought with extended mortgages on UK properties. Spain is being spoilt by selfish Brits - I'm ashamed although I have nothing to do with it.

How did cheap bolts get into a Ferrarri engine? It wasn't an Ebay purchase, was it?

Good luck in Spain but go to where the Spanish are (Granada etc) and avoid the areas populated by the noisey, "Sun reading" Brits.
