NSM CD Silver Sky CDM3 problem

I'm working on an "error 61" problem. The transport pulls the CD and places it on the CD turntable. It spins a few times and displays error 61 and the transport puts the CD back in the magazine. I'm looking for the schematic for the "Servo Panel" mentioned in the manual, which I believe is NSM's interface card with the Philips CDM3. It's mounted directly on the CDM3 and plugs into the Decoder Board.

I've found a couple of bad electrolytics on this card and have replaced them, to no avail. The bad lytics is why I'm concentrating here. I have IC info on all the chips on this card except the one that has a heat sink bonded to the top (covering the numbers). I've checked several NSM CD manuals but none have the card diagram or schematic for this card. Can anyone supply the schematic?

I've found the schematic for the CD player itself.

The troubleshooting guide mentions the Decoder Board but there's no schematic for that either. Only the Pickup Driver has a board layout and schematic, and that works. Can anyone supply the schematic for this one as well?

I haven't found any fusing associated with the CD power supply. Should I be looking elsewhere?

The board you posted photo's of is a Phillips built PCB. As far as I know, they never released any schematics for it, or the gold colored "decoder board" they used with it. The gold colored board was famous for cold solder joints--especially around the power plug as the components in that area tended to get VERY hot---( when used on Rowe equipment, I used to drill vent holes in the plastic "container" they were mounted into). CDM3, I don't think anyone still has parts to fix those.

Hi Ken,
Probably not--Phillips (is)/was not real good on supporting their product--CDM-3 thru the PRO's, are no longer supported. The 3 was probably last produced around 1991---at which time if it broke, Phillips said to convert to a CDM-4-- Ron Rich

Thanx for the info guys. It's pretty much what I figured. I'm going to check out power to the IC's to verify that its there. Easy enough without a schematic. If I have power, I'll check for cold solder joints, loose connections, etc... Outside of that, I'd hate to reverse engineer it to create a schematic. I think Happ makes an upgrade kit for the player but I don't think it's worth it. It probably uses a Philips CDMxx unit as well. If I find anything out, I'll post the results.
