Silvertone R101

Just got a silvrtone Model R101, need some assistance. Love vintage radios, this is my first and do not know anything about them. Mine powers up and goes in and out with picking up AM stations, volume also a little low. The tuning light does not light up.
Questions:
1: How easy is this to fix to make the radio functional?
2: Is the green tuning light an accessible part that will not cost an arm and a leg to get?
3: With never doing this before, would it just be better to take this somewhere to get fixed and how much roughly would this cost.
Any assistance will help. Thanks

Best advice, to start, is don't plug it in again until it's had a thorough going over.

SEE: "Please Read! - You JUST Aquired a vintage unit?" -- viewtopic.php?f=19&t=5882

Some background information --

Schematics (Several 101s listed) -- http://www.nostalgiaair.org/Resources/370/T0000370.htm

Hopefully, someone here can advise about repairs, etc.

It's a ten tube chassis.
Not something just "anyone" can service, sorry.
Best to locate a reputable servicer, and they are scarce.
And yeah, don't be powering it up out of curiosity, things can "fry" and then it's a paperweight.
