Counterweight mods to balance the 345-03D cart

The first shot is of the arm assembly showing the replaced-lengthened pickup wire and added wire guide. You'll notice the stretched pressure spring on the arm. This was a bit crude but allowed me to attain 3 gram tracking using the original springs.

The second pic shows the cut counterweights. The arm balanced correctly with no bias or boosting-in at the beginning of a record.

I brought it home to bathe it and replace the terminal strip which has been disintegrating and finally fell apart. I'd kept it going by adding another temporary cable clamp, but it was time for a real repair. It will be going back into service this week.

Hi All,
IMHO, there is a much simpler solution -- I take an old lead fishing weight, cut it down so that it weighs the difference between the old and new cartridge, "square it off", paint it black, and attach it to the top of the 345 with epoxy. Unless you really "stare" at it, it's un noticeable. Ron Rich
