AMI Model B mechanism help

Hi Folks - I'm new to this forum. Just began a restoration on an AMI model B with the 500 record changer. I recently completed a Seeburg 100B, but this is one is obviously way different!
The mech seems all gummed up and frozen. I know I need to disassemble and clean/lubricate. Should I be able to turn the motor armatures freely by hand to get it to scan and transfer, when everything is cleaned up? I gave it a quick power test. The rack crept a little bit, very slowly. The transfer motor didn't turn at all and blew the .8A fuse. Any hints/methods on getting the mech loosened up would be appreciated! Thanks, Carl.

Just about what you would do to any "gummed-up" mechanical devise--clean, oil ( in this case I recommend SAE 20 wt. ND oil).
IF the motors are the type that have the "Knurled thumb screw" on the back end, yes, you should be able to turn that thumb screw.
CAUTION: That model, as well as most AMi's of that vintage, is famous for having "bad ("lamp-cord", or "zip cord") wire" in it --do not attempt to operate it if the insulation is falling off ---HTH Ron Rich

Thanks Ron. Yes, the first thing I did was replace all the zip cord wiring. Was like a chocolate crumb cake in there. I'll pull the mech components off the base and clean/lubricate. Can I use your famous "mech wash" method on this unit as well? Seems like theres really nothing ferrous on a Seeburg mech to rust up, but I'm not sure about AMI. PS, this is Carl who you helped out with my 100B from the Seeburg group.
