Rock-Ola Mechanism Compatibility?

by markymarkuk » Wed Oct 23, 2013 1:33 am

Hi

Just wondered how "universal" are parts from Rock-Ola models. I have a 441 1969 model. Looking at a much later Rock-Ola 481 Max 2 model that was made in 1981. Looking closely at the mechanical parts e.g. gripper arm, gripper motor, turntable, tonearm, popularity wheel, write in/write out pin wheel etc... they appear very much the same as my early model.
I understand that all the wire loom, connectors, amp, psu etc.. are all updated.

So just wondered if its possible to swap parts from the 81 model to my 69 model - I'm thinking of the gripper arm gear wheel, as this is missing from mine!

Whats other owners experience of compatibility between these "mechanical" sections of Rock-Ola.
thanks

Your best resource for that type of info is the parts manuals--Part # the same ? Part is the same--
