Hi,

Does anyone know if the concert type phonographs are around, I would like to buy one, and a few cylinders? Was Columbia the only one to make them? And what would the price range be for one today in the market?

I have not seen one on ebay.

I've seen a few Edison Concert phonographs & cylinders for sale over the years on eBay, etc., but as you note, never a Columbia Graphophone Grand, such as the type GG illustrated here -- http://members.aol.com/antiquephono/gg.htm

Also see --

I've never seen the Columbia "Grand" cylinders on eBay, that I remember. That doesn't mean that they're not around. Probably in collections, owned by collectors with "deep pockets," judging by what the Edison Concert cylinders sell for -- several hundred dollars and up, if in VG+ condition.

I did spot a Columbia AB with the Grand conversion kit for sale on this site -- http://www.worldofgramophones.com/phonograph-sale.html -- but can't tell if it has been sold. (When you click on the "more" jump, it takes you to a page about an Edison Amberola???)

I also found a Columbia "HG" Grand for sale on this site -- http://www.collectorsworldwest.com/lookup.php?id=72 -- I think it's still available.

I think there may have been a Columbia or two for sale at the Wayne Phono show, but have no idea about price.
You can also buy brand new Wizard Concert cylinders by contacting Peter Dilg at verticalcut@earthlink.net for a title & price list.
I think they're about $125 each, but they won't break or go moldy, and are still much cheaper than originals. I've bought new standard cylinders & highly recommend them. They're every bit as good as the originals.
