Greetings All!
Hope the days going swell for you all. I have a question and was wondering if anyone has any info on what the issue might be. I have a Voice of Music 275/AV recordplayer and it plays a tad slow on all speeds. It works perfectly otherwise except for the speed issue. Anyone know if the speed is adjustable on these or what the problem might be.

Also I am not to sure how to take it apart. I can access the speaker and tone and volume knobs, but there are two screws on top of the player and unscrewing them just tightens the turntable's spring system, so I think. I am quite handy but dont want to bust the player. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Remove the platter via the retainer clip on the spindle. Clean the idler wheel, assuming it has one and not a belt, with alcohol or rubber rejuvenator. Do the same with the inside of the platter where the idler contacts it. Not a tech solution, which would be a complete restoration, but it may get you where you need to go.

Hey there and thank you for your reply. I did manage to get the thing apart. I couldent figure it out because its does not come apart the whole turntable, arm and everything comes foreward, and you have to lift as you remove so the springs clear their pits they rest in. I re lubed everything that moved and I also see that it was ment to have an auto return built into it as there are gears and such already there. After I lubed it it seemed to speed it up more but still not right on. It must be the idler wheel you are talking about. I can see it from underneath but can not access it with out removing the platter. I will have to attempt that today. Thanx again for your help!!

Lubing "everything that moves" is a WRONG thing to do.
I'm sure by now it's got more problems due to that mistake.
Isn't there anyone near you that's a reputable servicer, who can perform the job properly?

Aww, Ron, you have no idea how many record changers I've had to "un-gunk" in order to make them run properly.
One VM changer had so much grease on it's auto-trip slide it would take a bomb to remove it.
That part is SUPPOSED to be gree of grease.

Wow. Glad you guys are enjoying this lol. You clearley have never seen the under side of one of these players. The only things that really "move" that were of any interest to me were the idler wheel, tone arm, platter and the motor of course. Seeing as how its a speed issue, naturally I oiled the motor beaings, platter bearings, and a drop of oil on the idler wheel, bottom only. I lubed it with the same oil I used for my jukebox, motor oil SAE 20. The jukebox is working perfectly still as it was just the lack of lube that was preventing proper working. I'm not dumb, only a hillbilly uses wd-40. Sorry. I figured saying "lubed everything that moved" would save time from typing it all out like, I just did, but I guess it was taken to literally.

On well, dont really care anymore as its working properly now. It was just a lube issue again. This thing is built like a tank and sounds awesome. I also replaced the 6x9 with a better one. I buy these things because I like them, not to ruin them. I want them to be working thats why I came on here to ask questions. I have asked before and have always got help but this time; you two.

Um, I'm a professional servicer and have done literally hundreds of record changers over the decades.
I'm also an authorized VM servicer.

Just so you know...

VM didn't have fine speed controls on most of their units.

The motors usually ran fast. A slow one had motor bearings needing oil.

The one V-M I ever saw with a fine speed control had a perforated steel disk on the motor shaft and a permanent magnet that was moved to set the fine speed. This was a school classroom unit made sometime before 1968.
