1963 Magnavox MicroMatic TONEARM RE-Wiring

by Matthewjm19972 » Wed Jul 06, 2016 12:34 am

Hey, I have a 1963 Magnavox MicroMatic. The wires leading from the tonearm to the cartridge (150d) are falling apart. the connectors on the end are broken and the wires itself are starting to corrode. I've purchased a brand new cartridge, but I need to rewire the tonearm before I use it. I'm not sure what wires I should buy for this because to me the connectors that read to the cartridge are a mess. Two wires come up from inside the unit, one wire connects from the cartridge to the cartridge bracket, but there are 4 connection points on the cartridge. I'm just confused on what goes where. Any Tips?

#32 or #36 awg continuously flexible wire available from McMaster Carr. or look on eprey. You may want to try to save the shielding at least. Anything stiffer will hamper the movement of the tonearm.
Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.
