Rock ola 448 Questions

by mattfinch » Thu Dec 01, 2011 11:10 pm

Hey everyone! My name is Matt, I'm new to the board.

I recently acquired a Rock ola 448 jukebox in non-working order and am trying to bring it back to life. The previous owner told me it had been working for him, but the carousel that holds the records would no longer spin and select records.

So, first things first, I replaced the frayed power cord and all of the fuses. I brought it up slowly over night on a variac. Now, it turns on, lights up and the turntable spins for a few seconds before the relays click and the lights shut off and turntable stops (the florescent light stays on) The relays will click back on and off for a few seconds at a time for as long as it's powered on. It doesn't blow any of the fuses.

I replaced one of the 1200uf caps in the power supply that had clearly dried up and was blowing it's top. Any suggestions on where to go from here? I got the service manual, but I think the copy I received is incomplete.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Matt

Hi Matt,
Welcome---
You will need to do what all "newbies" need to do--read the service manual, and get some idea of what the "sequence of events" should be. Going from there, you can see the point of failure, or at least give an "old timer" a hint. I do not know where you purchased that manual, but I suggest that you check with www.alwaysjukin.com, and / or victoryglass.com and see if there is a more complete manual available. Ron Rich
