Seems to work well just needs some tlc on the cabinet. Also any ideas as to what they used to finish the wood and partical board?

Astrosonics were made from 1965 up to 1975.
Maintanence? - they ALL need a thorough overhaul by now after decades of aging.

Those cartridges are obsolete now, any found for sale would also be faulty at best.
Age takes its toll on things, even sitting new in the box for 30+ years.
I use new manufacture tetrads, sometimes custom-mounted, for reliability and easy service.
