using TAPE input on RCA VICTOR

I have a RCA VICTOR VGT 26 W and would like to utilize the TAPE input jack. It is 3 Pin input. I can't for the life of me find any information or adapters related to it. I figured that 1 is right 1 is left and the middle one is probably a ground of some sort, but i can't just put rca plugs in it case the resistence is different. Can anyone help?

The big one is ground. One pin is slightly bigger than the other two, and is farther away. Use trial and error to find out the others.
The phonograph is usually wired with the same connector. Look at it, and copy it. These are standard line-level inputs and outputs.
If you can't get the connector, pins used for meter test leads work. Or you can wire some RCA jacks in parallel.
On some sets, you can also use that tape connector as a tape out socket in any selector position except tape. I used it, with a suitable A/B switch box on the other end, to connect a reel-to-reel recorder for recording and playback.

i took some rca plugs apart and stuck the wires from the right and left in each hole to test. 2 of them worked but had major resistence and could barely hear anything, so i just assume its a different amp or something i tried it with amplifier and using the line out on my cd player both of which had the same effect.

Did you connect the ground wire (the braided shield in the RCA cables) to the third (separated) pin? That is needed too.
